On November 10th, 2012 I headed to Cement City in Michigan to work with the model Nicky McAuliffe, an “Americana Model” who was a blast to work with. This job would not have been made possible without the help of Joe Krug, who set this up for me in the first place. Special thanks to Nicky’s husband (#6-7) for being my lighting assistant on this.
These photos were shot in an undisclosed location with some bizarre antiques and the permission of the owner. This shoot is another reason why I love working on-location—the props available, the focus, the way natural light works with artificial. The only equipment I used for this shoot was one off-camera manual flash and pocket wizards. Some of the rim lighting you see on #19 was achieved by placing a mirror in front of Nicky and having the light reflect around her.
#4 is a combination of on-location photography and a backdrop I had from my trip to Rhodes Town, Greece. #5 was a combination of four different images.
